There are two common methods of catching zander: either with a bottom rod rigged with a dead baitfish or actively with a spinning rod. A popular technique is to use a rubber fish on a jig head, as the lead head allows the bait to be presented close to the bottom of the water. Zander tend to bite near the bottom during the day, while only venturing into shallower water at night. Anglers should take this behavior into account and adjust their fishing strategy accordingly. Both bottom fishing and spinning require patience and skill, but reward with the possibility of landing a zander catch.
